Grateful Heart: Reflecting on Community
Thanksgiving is just two days away, and it’s the perfect time to reflect on the blessings that shape our lives. This year, I’m especially grateful for community. From my Mammoth Mountain family to my self-defense crew and the cherished friendships that bring joy and meaning to my days, these connections remind me how vital community is to our well-being.
In the world’s Blue Zones—regions where people consistently live to 100 and beyond—strong social connections are one of the key factors contributing to longevity. Studies show that people in these communities often live up to 10 years longer than those in less connected societies. These relationships offer more than support; they reduce stress, enhance mental health, and create a deeper sense of purpose.
Community is also a core aspect of a holistic self-defense lifestyle, fostering resilience and emotional strength. This Thanksgiving, I encourage you to embrace an attitude of gratitude and celebrate the people who uplift and inspire you.
